The district-adopted math curriculum is Math Expressions. We augment this program with a variety of resources from research-based math programs, such as Silicon Valley Math Initiative and YouCubed. By pulling from these resources, we foster the following skills in all students:

We often incorporate math talks into our lessons. These are short activities designed to elicit multiple strategies and provide opportunities for students to reason about relationships in numbers and make connections in mathematics.
There is a great emphasis on developing a growth mindset in 4th grade. By watching Jo Boaler's videos on YouCubed and immersing themselves in activities with their classmates, students develop an understanding that mistakes are valuable and that everybody can learn, given support and perseverance.
