Beginning Ceramics

In this course, students will experience the basic techniques of hand building. Pinch, coil, slab techniques will be explored, as well as some basic sculpting processes. A project list will be included so as to keep track of your progress.

Instructions for Glazing and firing of Pottery will also be addressed.

Art students will also be required to follow my Daily Dose Program. These consist of a short lecture on current art news events concerning the outside world of art history and culture. A written paper may be required.

Grades will be determined by demonstrating skills and craftsmanship as well as Artistic attitudes.

To the student that is new to the Art Department, keep in mind that your definition of art will be "upgraded". Also consider that most of you have never really constructed anything "from scratch". Be patient and persistent and you will be proud of the Art you create !
