At the Lama Library's home page (https://guides.library.kapiolani.hawaii.edu), use the Search the Library and Beyond search box.
By default, searches will look throughout the entire UH Library System. As a Kapiʻolani CC student, you are able to borrow physical books from other UH libraries. However, if you are interested in looking for books only at Kapiʻolani CC, change the Everything drop down to Kapiʻolani CC. Then click the search (magnifying glass) button.
By default, searches will bring back all kinds of resources: books, articles, and more. To limit to just books, look for the Resource Type section on the left, and select Books.
You should now see that the book filter is on. In your search, you'll see physical books and ebooks. If you need help finding a print book at the library, ask a staff member for help. For ebooks, follow the links to access the full text of the online book.
If you are only interested in ebooks, an alternative search method is to go straight to an ebook database. From the Lama Library homepage, click the arrow next to Resources, and select Find Books.
Select the Online Books tab.
Then select either Ebook Central or the EBSCO ebook Collection.
In Ebook Central, key things to look for are:
The Read Online button, which allows you to read the full text of the book.
The Download Book button.
Share a Link to Book, which you can copy and paste in an email to yourself.
Cite Book, to bring up APA or MLA citations.
In EBSCO eBook Collection, key things to look for are:
The "Access options" drop down (to access the full text of the book).
The Cite button (looks like a quotation mark).
The Share button (to email yourself a link to the book)
The Download button (to download portions of the book, or to temporarily download the full book).
