Bio

Dr. Stephanie Furrer is Professor of Psychology and Chair of the Department of Psychology and Sociology at Hastings College.  As a developmental scientists trained in early child development, Dr. Furrer understands the complex factors that influence optimal development, and eagerly accepted the Food4Thought Faculty Sponsor position in 2008.  Over the years, the program has grown tremendously, and Dr. Furrer is amazed and inspired by the supportive, generous Hastings community, and the tireless, strong work of dedicated and passionate young adults.  She believes that fighting hunger and raising awareness about food insecurity in our community and beyond not only educates and offers leadership opportunities for college students, but also provides our children and families with a sense of caring and belongingness, which strengthens community bonds. 

Duties

• Oversee all nonprofit operations

• Advise and assist student leadership as needed

• Troubleshoot potential difficulties

• Recruit new team members

• Represent the non-profit at a faculty level at the college
