In an attempt to go paperless, we will be experimenting with Google Classroom. Please see this site & bookmark. Please join the class by using this code: 7w5slw

Note that daily homework (including tomorrow's) is on this page, including the 3 handouts you will need to get organized. In addition, especially during this trial period, these handouts and general information will be posted here...

Please find attached below a PDF with the Course Standards. Please read it, complete your goals, sign the language pledge and hand in page 4. Please keep the entire document (included page 4, once returned) in the organization section of your notebook.

To develop listening comprehension skills and an understanding of contemporary issues, we will study top news stories on tv5. Please see TV5 for details

As GRAMMAR resource, each student will have a copy of the text French for Fluency: grammaire active (Valette-Valette). Students may leave their text at home for homework and studying. There are classroom copies for use in class and copies in the FLRC for use in the FLRC. Students may not remove these copies from their locations. Below find a hand out on the Subjunctive (Am Ch 13&14 Subjonctif).

Please bookmark this Quizlet. It is an important tool for learning vocab, grammar points. See this video to learn how to combine quizlets for unit review.

CONVERSATION is a key part of French 4. There is a French-only policy in class and there will be frequent conversation quizzes in the form of interviews and listening comprehension dictations. Please see the CONVERSATION page for more information.

CULTURE is an important part of this course, because to know a language is to understand its cultures. In addition to the news, our exploration of culture will include various genre of literature, film, music and visual arts. Please see the CULTURE page for more information.

The SYLLABUS (PDF attached below) provides the due dates for every assignment. Students should keep a copy in the front of their notebooks. Revisions to these assignments may be made in class. If a student is absent, s/he should contact the teacher for any updates.

ORGANIZATION is essential and rewarded. Students must set up a dedicated 3-ring binder following the parameters outlined in the VERIFICATION DU CLASSEUR (attached PDF). It will serve as our primary resource for class and home work and which we will build and revise as the year progresses. There will be a quarterly notebook check worth a quiz grade. The teacher reserves the right to give pop notebook quizzes, too.

Students who are interested in taking the French SAT 2 are invited to consult the SAT 2 page and talk with the teacher how to best prepare for the test in May or June.
