My name is Rick Floyd, and I am originally from Greenville, South Carolina. I currently reside in Travelers Rest, South Carolina, and enjoy running and cycling on the Swamp Rabbit Trail.
I have been employed with the Greenville County School District since September 1, 2011, where I work in Information Security within the Educational Technology Services (ETS) Department, located at M.T. Anderson.
I bring more than 20 years of law enforcement experience, having retired from the Greenville City Police Department in 2011. During my tenure with the department, I was responsible for investigating internet and computer-related crimes, including all electronically facilitated offenses. In 2004, I received extensive training in computer forensic investigations from the Federal Government in Washington, D.C. Following this training, I served as a member of the local U.S. Customs (ICE) task force, where I investigated child pornography cases and conducted computer forensic examinations.
Additionally, I was a member of the South Carolina Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. In this role, I investigated internet crimes against children, including online criminal solicitation and enticement cases, and conducted undercover online investigations by posing as an underage child.
Beyond investigative work, I have significant experience in community education and outreach related to internet safety. I conduct age-appropriate internet safety presentations for students, school staff, parents, and community organizations. These presentations address online risks, cyberbullying, and the dangers and potential legal and personal consequences of sharing inappropriate images via computers or mobile devices.
