My name is Tanya Dillard. I am a former student of Taylors Elementary. At that time, it was located on Main Street in Taylors. I am an alumnus of Riverside High School and the University of South Carolina in Columbia (Go Cocks!). I received my graduate degree in Special Education/ Elementary Education from Converse College. I have been married for 34 years, and I have three lovely daughters.
After college, I worked for 10 years with the Department of Social Services. I wanted to do more to help people learn because so many of my clients could not read or had dropped out of school, so I decided to return to school. Two years later, I received a Master of Education degree from Converse College in Spartanburg. I began teaching at Taylors Elementary 2 months later. I have been teaching Special Education since 1998. I am certified to teach in the areas of Special Education -Learning Disabilities and Elementary Education.
I was honored to serve as Teacher of the Year for Taylors Elementary for the 2005-2006 school year. Teaching at Taylors Elementary has been a rewarding experience. I have a passion for my job that runs very deep. To see the students excel is very exhilarating. It gives me the energy to continue each day as though it were my first day on the job.
