Resource classes currently consist of an average of 3 to 8 students per class. It is our hope that class sizes will remain small. Smaller classes allow us to target weak areas more effectively with fewer distractions. Most of the teaching is direct instruction using hands-on activities, manipulatives, and games to practice key concepts. Some paper and pencil activities will be used as a means of assessing retention of skills learned.
In addition to pull-out services, we offer inclusion services for all grade levels. This allows the student to remain in the regular classroom and to continue to receive direct instruction as well as accommodations to help them be successful with grade level content.
"Education is not designed merely to lift one above his fellows, but rather its purpose is to equip man to help his fellows - to elevate the masses, the less fortunate. For if one has a better mind than his fellows, more wealth than his fellows, is more favorably circumstanced than his fellows, has a better opportunity than his fellows, he is obligated to use his skills in the interest of the common good."
