About me

Mr. Spearman is entering his 33rd year as a high school theatre teacher. He began his career at Dorman High School in Spartanburg and was there for 10 years. He then went to Charlotte and taught at Northwest School for the Arts for four years. He moved back to the Greenville area and taught at Mann from 1998 - 2001. He was then offered a position at Starr's Mill High School outside of Atlanta where he taught for 14 years.

While at Starr's Mill, Mr. Spearman built the program to become an award winning, highly recognized program. Productions at Starr's Mill were consistently nominated for the Shuler Hensley Awards (the Georgia High School Musical Theatre competition) and his students were recognized on the state and regional levels.

At Mann, Mr. Spearman has directed Almost, Maine, Hairspray, Rumors, Aida, and Fortress. This year, he will direct Murder Room and Shrek.

Mr. Spearman currently has former students performing on Broadway, in Broadway touring companies, regional theatres, and directing on Broadway. He also has former students in LA performing on television and in the movie industry.

Thrilled to be back at Mann, Mr. Spearman hopes to continue to build the theatre program and increase performance opportunities.
