We are pleased to announce the 2026–2027 Glastonbury Public Schools Teacher of the Year: Smith Middle School Choir Director, Mrs. Kate Ingram!
Mrs. Ingram is an educator who celebrates every student and creates the conditions for them to be the best version of themselves. She has been tremendously effective in helping establish a thriving musical and artistic community at SMS. She has also been named a CT Teacher of the Year Semifinalist!
Please join us all in congratulating her!
Students in grades 6-8 will be using Chromebooks this year. Additional grades will transition from iPads to Chromebooks as leases expire. WFSB recently featured the transition and our commitment to the balanced use of technology. Click above to view the video.
Interested in setting healthy boundaries around screens for your children? The Balance Project is a great resource for finding outdoor play meetups, bike rides, and other tech-free activities.

Smith Middle School earned its No Place for Hate school designation through the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) for the third year in a row in 2026. This award recognizes the organized efforts of staff, students, and their families who stand against all forms of hate.
The Smith Middle School community raised over $13,000 for the American Heart Association with our Hoops for Heart event.
We are the #1 middle school fundraiser in Connecticut and ranked #10 nationally among middle schools!
SMS students who participated attended a students vs. faculty basketball game one recent afternoon.

Smith Middle School yearbook sales are now CLOSED!
