Families of students in grades 6-8 may schedule an appointment to set up their student's device. Both student and a parent/guardian must attend the appointment. At this time you will receive student account information and device guidelines will be reviewed.
To schedule your appointment, please refer to the July 14, 2026 ParentSquare post with the subject Student Summer Chromebook Distribution.
During the first few weeks of school, students in grades 6–8 will participate in Chromebook Orientation lessons designed to support a smooth transition from using an iPad to using a Chromebook.
During these lessons, students will learn how to:
Log in and log out using Chromebook routines
Organize files and folders in Google Drive
Use Screencast tools
Save and manage files in Google Drive
Properly care for and handle their Chromebook
Use the camera and camera features
Customize their Chromebook shelf
Adjust Chromebook settings
Manage tabs and learn browser basics
Use Google Keep
Use Google Calendar and Tasks
Create and manage virtual desks
Add languages and accents
Students will receive direct instruction in keyboarding skills to support their transition from iPads to Chromebooks. As students move from a primarily touch-based device to a tool that relies on typing, navigation, and efficient use of a physical keyboard, developing strong keyboarding skills will help them work more confidently and independently.
This Chromebook Orientation Guide will help students get started with their district-issued Chromebook. It covers signing in, navigating the device, connecting to Wi-Fi, signing out, and best practices for caring for and using the Chromebook responsibly.
