School Absence

Physical Exams

The State of Connecticut requires that a physical exam be conducted in either 5th or 6th grade, prior to students entering the 7th grade. Students not in compliance will be excluded from starting 7th grade until the information is provided.You and your physician must complete the Connecticut State Health Assessment form. The form is available in the left sidebar. 

Medication

Students are not permitted to carry any medication in school without proper authorization.This includes Tylenol, Advil or any over-the-counter medication. State law and the Glastonbury Board of Education requires an Authorization for the Administration of Medication by School Personnel Form be completed by a Doctor, Dentist, APRN or Physician's Assistant. The form must also be signed by a parent or guardian. Medication must be brought to the health office in the original labeled container. ALL medication must be kept in the health office; Students may not carry medication except in certain emergency situations. Epi Pens and Asthma Inhalers may be self administered and self carried if it is indicated on the Medication Administration Form. A new form is required every school year. Controlled substances must be brought in to the health office by a parent. Please download the form from the left sidebar. Please call with any questions.

Cough Drops

A parent note is required allowing a student to use cough drops. Cough drops are not supplied by the school and must be brought from home. The parent note is to be brought to the school nurse with the cough drops. The student will go to the Health Office and request the cough drop if needed.

Human Growth and Development 

Evening Program 

The Glastonbury Public Schools Human Growth and Development Evening Program consists of a series of three evening sessions presented throughout the school year. Beginning in October, there will be 8 sessions offered. The program has been designed for both parents and students in grades 4, 5, and 6 (10 years or older) attending Glastonbury Public Schools.
