Transitions

The following chart has a slew of different transition words that you can use. The words are organized by category to make it easier for you to narrow down which words you might use for your specific purpose. Thus, if you're looking to contrast one idea with another, there are a selection of potential transitions you could use in the Compare & Contrast category.

The following video is a little longer (over six minutes), but this is in large part because the instructor provides very clear examples of various types of links one might use to help transition between ideas. In particular, he shows you how to both use more simplistic, standard transitions as well as more complicated idea and word links. It's not flashy from a graphics perspective, but is very clear and straightforward.
