Students in plant science have many career options such as greenhouse manager, soil scientist, floral designer, propagation scientist, horticulturalist, crop consultant, turf grass manager, seed sales representative and many more!
The courses here are all one semester (.5) credit courses. Students taking courses labelled ECE (Early College Experience) are eligible to receive UConn credits.

Throughout the year our plant science students run plant sales. In the fall we have a Mum plant sale. In the winter, we have a poinsettia, candle centerpiece, boxwood tree and wreath sale. And in the spring students grow bedding plants to sell in early May. All proceeds go to support our students and the FFA Chapter.
Students focus on the four main concentrations within the AgriScience and Technology program (Animal Science, Plant Science, Natural Resources and Agricultural Mechanics & Engineering) as well as current industry standard practices.
This course will focus on the use of plants in gardens, landscaping, floral art, and home.
An introduction to the environment and natural resources and how to manage them.
Students learn how to arrange flowers as a form of art.
Students learn how to drive a tractor and operate small machines.
Students will study sustainable landscapes and their aesthetic functionality and explore biodiversity and careers.
Students learn the principles of design, cost, and marketing of floral art.
Students learn how to repair a small engine and weld. The Outdoor Power Equipment class is a prerequisite for this course.
This course offered through the GHS Science Department can be taken for AgSci credit.
