Natural Resources classes explore the renewable resources of water, trees, fish, wildlife, sunlight and air as well as the non-renewable resources of minerals, soil, and fossil fuels. Students study ecosystems, Connecticut habitat types, invasive species, ecological succession, topography, water quality, and the safety and handling of agricultural chemicals.
The courses here are all one semester (.5) credit courses.

Students focus on the four main concentrations within the AgriScience and Technology program (Animal Science, Plant Science, Natural Resources and Agricultural Mechanics & Engineering) as well as current industry standard practices.
Principles of Agroecology and Conservation
This course will focus on sustainable approaches to natural resource production and agriculture.
This course will focus on the use of plants in gardens, landscaping, floral art, and home.
Students learn about aquaculture and freshwater/saltwater fish.
Students learn how to drive a tractor and operate small machines.
Students learn how to identify wildlife species and how to manage their habitats.
Students learn how to repair a small engine & weld. The Outdoor Power Equipment class is a prerequisite for this course.
Students will study sustainable landscapes and their aesthetic functionality and explore biodiversity and careers.
Students learn how to identify trees and discuss the various uses of timber.
This course offered through the GHS Science Department can be taken for AgSci credit.
