What is an Athletic Trainer?
“Athletic Trainers (ATCs) are healthcare professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and participation for patients and clients. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities. Athletic Training is recognized by the American Medical Association as a healthcare profession.”
Are Athletic Trainers Qualified?
All certified and/or licensed Athletic Trainers must earn a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a CAATE-accredited program and pass the national Board of Certification (BOC) exam. ATs maintain state licensure and complete ongoing continuing education to ensure safe and high-quality patient care.
