Andrew Abraham is a nationally certified and Connecticut-licensed Athletic Trainer who serves as the Athletic Trainer at Glastonbury High School. He joined GHS after several successful years leading sports medicine services at Rocky Hill High School and Select Physical Therapy, where he worked from 2018 to 2024. During that time, Andrew served as the Area Director of Sports Medicine, overseeing more than 30 athletic trainers across Connecticut secondary schools.
Andrew earned his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Springfield College in 2017 and later completed his Master of Science degree. While at Springfield, he gained extensive clinical experience working with a wide range of high-level collegiate athletes and competed in ice hockey for three seasons. He has remained connected to the sport as an assistant coach for the Springfield College Hockey Team from 2016 to 2023 and currently coaches the Terriers Co-Op hockey team, a role he has held since 2019.
Prior to entering the secondary school setting, Andrew worked as an athletic trainer at the University of Massachusetts, where he supported the Football program and served as the Head Athletic Trainer for Baseball and Cheerleading. His professional interests include comprehensive sports medicine program development, emergency care, and the evolving research surrounding concussion and brain injury management.
Andrew is deeply passionate about the role of the athletic trainer as a frontline healthcare provider within the secondary school setting. He is committed to delivering high-quality, athlete-centered care while fostering a positive, supportive environment for all GHS student-athletes and their families.
Andrew lives in Windsor with his wife Ashley, their daughter Brynn, and their dog Bruin. They enjoy the outdoors, athletics, and cooking, and value being active members of the school community. Family is a priority for Andrew, so do not be surprised to see the Abraham family at GHS events supporting the Guardians, Bruin included.

What is an Athletic Trainer?
“Athletic Trainers (ATCs) are healthcare professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and participation for patients and clients. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities. Athletic Training is recognized by the American Medical Association as a healthcare profession.”
Are Athletic Trainers Qualified?
All certified and/or licensed Athletic Trainers must earn a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a CAATE-accredited program and pass the national Board of Certification (BOC) exam. ATs maintain state licensure and complete ongoing continuing education to ensure safe and high-quality patient care.
