The elementary art program at Greater Johnstown consists of a wide variety of hands-on projects and assignments utilizing a variety of artistic media including:

graphite (pencil) sketching

pen and ink

colored pencils

water colors

The Elementary Art program at GJSD incorporates art history with art production, and introduces students to the many aspects of the visual arts. Students are encouraged to be creative and express themselves artistically while learning a variety of artistic techniques and processes. We follow the state standards and guidelines for art and cover as many concepts and ideas as possible to give each student an understanding of many different artistic processes and concepts.
