Dates to Remember:
October 10- Parent Teacher Conferences
October 13&14- No School
October 20- COGAT Testing
On Monday, October 20, 2025, Anderson Third Graders will take the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT). The test will be given over 1 day for approximately 2.5 hours (this time includes breaks). The CogAT test gives teachers and parents a snapshot of students’ higher-level thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities (verbal, nonverbal, quantitative, and overall ability), as compared to other third graders in the nation. It is a local assessment and is not needed for promotion. Please schedule morning appointments on days other than Monday, October 20, 2025. You can help your child prepare by making sure s/he get plenty of sleep the night before testing and eats a good breakfast in the morning.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to our PTA for organizing a wonderful visit with guest author, Stan Tucker. During his time with us, Stan inspired our students to live in a way that makes their parents, loved ones, and teachers proud—by showing kindness and respect to others, giving their best effort in all they do, and choosing to do the right thing, even when no one is watching.
Stan also introduced his exciting reading and writing program, which includes a writing competition.
📚 Click here to find out more about Stan Tucker’s program. This voluntary program involves a fee for materials, all of which is managed through Mr. Tucker on his website.
✍️ Book submissions are due to Mr. Tucker by April 15th to be considered for professional illustration and publication.
Any questions should be addressed to Stan Tucker via his website.
Thank you!
Leah
