Heart Garden 2020-June 3rd

Honouring Memories, Planting Dreams invites people of all ages to plant heart gardens in memory of children lost to the residential school system, to honour Residential School survivors and their families, and to support the legacy of The Truth and Reconciliation Commision (TRC). The act of planting represents our commitment to reconciliation.

Here is a short video about Heart Gardens:

If you want to further your knowledge and understanding, please refer to this website:

Students, please make 2 hearts on paper (take up the full paper) and write a message to a Residential School Survivor. Cut them out and keep one for yourself and post it in a window. Drop the other off at school by Tuesday afternoon. We will plant them in our garden and at 2:00 on Wednesday Ms. Elson will do a live prayer and smudge.

Thank you all for taking your time to show honour and support to our Residential School Survivors.

Create an Orange Shirt Day Design for our VERY OWN Orange Shirt Day shirts!

Hello to all of our students!

I wanted to share with you an amazing opportunity that is open to everyone!

You have the chance to draw our very own Orange Shirt design that we can wear on September 30 in order to honour all Residential School Survivors.

As a reminder, here is the origin of Orange Shirt Day and what it means for the recognition of Indian Residential School Survivors.

If you would like to hear the story of The Orange Shirt, you can do so here, I hope it inspires your design.

All submissions must be submitted by June 12. (Please submit all designs to your teachers.)

A winner will be announced and their design posted on the St Martha Facebook page on June 15.

The winner will recieve a free t-shirt with their design.

Shirts are $12.50 each and a portion of the proceeds go to both the Orange Shirt Society and St Martha.

Best of luck Eagles! I look forward to seeing your design ideas!
