East Central Honor Choir Information 2024

This year’s event will be hosted by DeSoto at the Performing Arts Center located at: 815 Amvets Dr, DeSoto, MO  63020. We will be having the event on Saturday, February 3rd (Inclement Weather Day: February 17, 2024).

Our clinician for the 2022-23 school year is Dr. Barbara LaMont, Director of Choral Activities at Southeast Missouri State University.  Dr. Lamont is a well recognized and regarded choral director, and will teach the students many things.  In fact, my son sings for her as a Freshman at SEMO.  If you are interested, please click HERE to read her bio.

The day’s itinerary is as follows:

• Arrive between 8:30-9:00 (We will meet at FMS at 8:15 AM that morning and ride the bus up)

• Rehearsal from 9:00-11:55

• Lunch from 12:00-12:45 (We will order pizza and have juice, chips, and fruit as well.  Lunch is $5 per student).

• Rehearsal from 12:45-3:40

• Students will change into dress clothes for the performance. (We will wear our FMS choir attire).

• Concert 4:00.  At the end of the concert, parents can take students with them instead of waiting to meet them at FMS.  ALL STUDENTS MUST CHECK OUT WITH MR. Z BEFORE LEAVING!

• There will be T-Shirts, Plaques, and recordings available for purchase prior to and following the concert.

1.  Students are expected to work on the music with Mr. Zustiak during PAWS as well as work on their own at home to have all notes and rhythms learned prior to the date of the performance.

2.  Students will be responsible for the music loaned to them for that day.

3.  Students should arrive that day in comfortable clothing that is school appropriate as well as a pencil, their music, and water to stay hydrated that day.

4.  This is a fun day of making music with a fantastic director but students should plan on getting an excellent night’s sleep the day prior to ensure they have a great experience that day.
