Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Analyzed linear motor in to obtain requirements.
Fabrication of shoulder mount to attach to test bed.
We tested motor placement in SolidWorks and MATLAB for range of motion.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Purchased materials, motors, and shoulder pads for testing
Elastic band
Linear motor, 30mm
Linear motor, 50mm
Sourced clavicle brace for Max's size to mount motor on
Developed CAD models of actuation methods in SolidWorks
Developed and 3d-printed concept for brace
Met with family for more input
Tested four methods of sensing input
Received doctor's input on feasibility of linear motor
Narrowed actuation options down due to body constraints and aesthetic appeal to Max
Eliminated servo motor
Eliminated flex shaft idea
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.

Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Focus on design comfort (3/18 - Dr. Skalsky) - Action taken: Look into what Max currently is using on his brace as it seems to suit him well
Minimize the weight through the shoulder (3/18 - Dr. Skalsky) - Action taken: Incorporate strap attaching to clavicle brace that will distribute weight from linear motor and brace through trunk.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Simulation of range of motion(4/4 - Gillet) - Action taken: Made an assembly of the arm, brace, and linear motor in Solidworks. Made an optimization code in Matlab to determine placement of motor
Need to start spending more money(4/4 - Gillet) - Action taken: Ordered several parts for prototyping
Become familiar with Don Norman's work (4/4 - Gillet) - Action taken: watched several lectures given by Don Norman

Risks and Areas of Concern
Range of motion obtained from actuation method
Need to avoid overextension and over-retraction
Being able to attach material and comfort associated with them
Fitting the brace on Max and wiring
Decide on control method
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Mold of child's arm (will set up meeting with orthotist with help of Dr. Skalsky)
Schedule
Meeting with orthotist TBD
Update Gantt chart.
