Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Testing code is almost completed (biteplate hall effect sensor initiation and playing tones through the speakers is complete, still need to integrate accelerometers)
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Finished machining and assembling biteplate
Finished machining and assembling mechanical components of paddles (target, springs)
Updated exhaustive BOM
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Finish electronics and coding (Aryo)
Raspberry Pi audio drivers modified and properly outputting 384kHz audio through DAC hat
Script that sequences through list of audio files, each triggered by hall effect sensor is functioning properly
Script that simultaneously reads 2 IMUs through I2C and outputs accelerometer and gyroscope data is functioning properly
All that’s left is to put these two together and set a threshold for data recording
Sponsor wants to be able to easily modify thresholds and timers in code as needed
Testing (everyone)
Going to SPAWAR Thursday morning for a dry run
Unfortunately can’t test electronics in water yet, since hall effect sensor doesn’t work (see below)
Compile results (everyone)

Risks and Areas of Concern
Hall effect sensor
The custom Hall effect sensor that we ordered tested to be the wrong type (it senses out the side rather than the top). We contacted the manufacturer and they are building us a new one to spec (free of charge since they messed up), shipping out 3/8. We confirmed the code using the sensor in the “accidental” orientation, and it works in that sense. As soon as the new one comes in, as long as it is up to spec we shouldn’t have any problems integrating it.
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Waiting on new Hall Effect sensor
Schedule
In-field testing (3/8)
Receive fixed Hall effect sensor (3/10)
Machine simplified biteplate (in case tests without electronic functionality need to be run (3/15)
3D print miniature rig (3/15)
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
$1286.12 spent
$-286.12 remaining
Note: $1000 budget not strict.
