Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Honeycomb panels perforated and cut to size
Decided to change from 12" x 12" (30.5 cm x 30.5 cm) to 8" x 8" (20.3 cm x 20.3 cm)
Wind tunnel velocity measured
Wind Tunnel completed
Thermocouple arduino code debugged and functional
Preliminary Test with fabricated honeycomb panels ready to preform
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Flow straighteners installed into wind tunnel
Thermocouple arduino code debugged
Honeycomb panels perforated and cut to size
Wind tunnel velocities measured
Wind tunnel velocities verified for consistent airflow
Preliminary test with unmodified honeycomb panel conclusions:
Current insulator does not have the operating temperature necessary despite having better thermal conductivity than calcium silicate
Should reduce fabricated honeycomb panel to 8"x8" for ease of inserting thermocouples and wind tunnel testing.
Actual measurements of honeycomb panel parameters vary slightly than manufacturer's given averages.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Purchase thermal pad - Chris
Purchase calcium silicate insulation IIG 684707 from Walmart or Zoro and get specs- James
Begin preliminary testing - Team
Improve simulation - David
Attach thermocouples to fabricated aluminum honeycomb - Alex

Jerry 5/10: When modelling simulation, consider using the effective area of aluminum and finding the average thermal conductivity
Jerry 5/10: Look into McMaster for flow straighteners. Ideally want a flow straightener with 3 different radii.
McMaster did not have flow straighteners. Other flow straighteners were expensive and had high lead times.

Alberto 5/11: When verifying via actual measurement of aluminum honeycomb thickness or epoxy thickness, take average
Measured the aluminum honeycomb thickness and epoxy thicknesses using micrometers.
