Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.

• • Received two Trespa sheets

  • Purchased and picked up aluminium t-slot extrusions and aluminium corner brackets from F&L Industrial Solutions

  • Purchased and picked up cylindrical Delrin stock from ePlastics

  • Controller four button push button system working.

    • Programmed Arduino to communicate with in-room controller and LabVIEW

  • Ordered leveling casters and Type 316 stainless steel bolts from McMaster-Carr

  • Machine nuts for fastening t-slot aluminium

  • Working to order fiber optic components from Industrial Fiber Optics (there was some purchasing trouble)

  • Working to finalize order of PCBs

  • Ordered thrust bearings from Igus

  • Completed newer, more detailed CAD model of table, positioning system, and associated components

  • Completed Report Draft 1

  • Created v1 of team website

• • Add fifth button to in-room controller. Have it operational by end of Week 6

  • Complete machining Delrin stock and aluminium stock into lead nut and lead screws respectively

• • Dr. Delson advised us to check the tolerances on our linear bearings.

    • Upon receiving our linear bearings, we fastened aluminum extrusions to them and observed minor free play between the bearing wall and the extrusion. However, the bearings shipped with thin spacers (~5 thousandths of an inch) to further tighten the tolerance.

Risks and Areas of Concern

• • Thrust bearing will take 1.5 weeks to arrive, which is later than we'd like.

  • Will be purchasing a new arduino for our controller and must make sure it is compatible with our current setup (small concern)
