Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
3D CAD model of test bed created. The test bed will be constructed in the following week and elastic system will be tested with Steven to get a general idea on optimal stiffnesses/resistances for skiing.
Create a stronger stiffness for inner side of the leg
Research into new elastic materials is continued.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Did research for individual component analysis
Found z rotation damping from friction on wearer is roughly 100 N
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Finish constructing test bed and test elastic configurations to map out optimal stiffness

Steven (in person)
Experiment with different elastic positions. Find a way to adjust the elastic so that there is no spring force activation in the boot's neutral position. Consider elastic in front and in back. Consider aerated rubber for compression damping in future designs.
Current design step ideas
Find elastic configuration to provide enough restoring force (more on the inner side of the leg than the outer side of the leg)
Test different materials for damping
Make design adjustable
Professor Cai (in person)
Recommended dragon skin for moldable elastic material
Recommended the possibility of designing a structure that will provide elastic properties, such as a spring, rather than finding an elastic material
Recommended we conduct testing in steps; first to determine necessary elasticity in certain directions, next to create an adjustable system, and then research into a cold resistant elastic material
