Mr. Steven Karsten is a Program Manager, Railgun Programs for GA,
responsible for the schedule, budget and execution of over $10M of IR&D
programs within the 2015 GA Missile Defense and commercial portfolios.
Mr. Karsten earned his BS, Aerospace Engineering, 2000, University of
Colorado, Boulder, CO, his MBA, Operations Management, San Diego State
University, San Diego, CA and his MS, Systems Engineering, University of
Southern California, Anaheim, CA. He has 15 years' experience in the
management of System Development and Design and production contracts for
the US Navy and US Marine Corps.
Walter J. Whatley, Ph.D.
Senior Materials Scientist
Dr. Walter Whatley is the Senior Materials and Process Engineer for GA
Railgun programs. Dr. Whatley earned his Ph.D., Materials Science, 1985,
University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA and his M.S., Biomedical
Engineering,1980, Clemson University, Clemson, SC. Dr Whatley is an
accomplished scientist with wide knowledge base and 29 years of experience
using organic, metal, ceramic matrix and carbon-carbon composite materials
with hands-on professional experience in advanced composite materials
research, process development and reducing state of the art processing
methods to production.
