Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Fabrication phase in full force
Designs for liquid container adapter fully finalized
Fabrication of liquid containers, solid dispensers, and piping systems to be completed by the beginning of next week
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Spoke to Steve Roberts on feasibility of hacking into the induction cooktop
Good news: process should be easily doable
Nailed down design concept for the lid - stirrer mechanism
Acquired final approval from sponsors for liquid container adapter
Obtained quote along with approval from Chris Cassidy regarding 3D print of the adapters
Scheduled to print on 4/21/15
Began consolidating 3D model of overall assembly
Updated as final designs are consolidated
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Fully assemble the liquid container adapter (Howard)
Test adapter by actually putting liquid inside
Finish fabrication of the solid dispenser (Michael)
Finish design and assembly of the piping system (Edwin)
Begin testing with electronics (Pablo)
Order the aluminum extrusions needed for the prototype
Order parts necessary for the fabrication of the lid - stirrer assembly
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
From in-person meeting with sponsors (4/16/15):
Continue updating the overall assembly - next meeting to present final overview
Updates occurring when relevant
Liquid container:
Consider feasibility of machining from metal stock (with regard to the adapter)
Simple design - multiple parts and threading on a few for attachment
Action taken: Investigated metal stock and compared with the price of 3D printing
Will consider machining more if 3D threads do not work
Discussed Mason Jars as the liquid container
Action: Go ahead
Cleaning system for piping discussed:
Agreed upon the attractiveness of cleaning milk system using water container
Action: Begin design and assembly of piping system
