The component I have chosen to gathered information about is the skateboard itself. The skateboard is a fundamental component of the robot. If the board is too small the robot may experience balancing issues, however if the board is too big it will become difficult to control the board while performing the "Ollie" trick.
Functional Requirements
The skateboard must provide a stable base for the robot (wide wheel placement)
Must be sturdy enough to withstand many Ollies
Mass distribution and geometry should be symmetric about the center of the board.
The first place I looked for information was Google Scholar. All of the documents were related to patents and inventions. Next I performed a Thomas Register search for "skateboard". 17 companies came back from the search. Only 5 of the 17 companies actually make skateboards. Lastly I looked at the companies websites and found three suitable skateboards.
