Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Tested 1D prototype on laboratory microscope
Used to validate relationship between plunge and stretch
Looking into material choices for
Updated design of final device to allow for increased petri-dish removability
Choosing materials for
Began fabrication of final device hardware
Chose to not use arduino for feedback and control purposes.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Recommended microscope camera to ND.
Updated final design with following changes:
Rearranged plunger geometry to increase manufacturing ability
Changed petri dish replacement access
Updated petri-holder to allow for bar-stock manufacture
Purchase issues resolved via JV, controller received Friday (4/26)
Motors and accessories to be delivered early during the week of 4/29
Notified that the team will choose a laptop to be used for control of the device.
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Fabrication and assembly of 4-axis device (5/4, whole team)
Begin control using 4-axis controller (5/2-5/7, JS)
Determine camera for use in feedback (5/3, TC)
Investigate available image feedback methods, technology, and workplan for feedback and control (5/5, AT, BR, others)

MB - Wanted approval for a computer to be used for the interface and control for the device. (email)
Sent us an email with the specs of the laptop, we replied with our approval.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
ND - Check on the material restrictions for the petri dish assembly
Presented the concerns to the sponsor.
ND - Requested help for recommendation of a camera/microscope for the class
Tony responded to emails with top 3 devices, based on pricing and functionality

Risks and Areas of Concern
Still exploring coding and feedback possibilities
Chance to choose our own camera to use for this.
Schedule
Upcoming milestone:
Initial fabrication of 4-axis stretcher
Control of 4 motors
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
Total spent: $710
Total remaining $790
(Excludes machine shop funds)
Looks like the computer for control will be purchased not by us, but by the client (or they will find and give us one).
