Other Constraints and Issues
No Shock! When the cabinet is being tipped it must stop slowly. The cabinet cannot be tipped on its side or on its front, it must tip backwards. The device will not be maintained, if it breaks it will be thrown away, unless it is created following other industrial standards, for example, a forklift mechanic/operator could fix it. It was stated that an increase in cost would be acceptable.
WOW Design Solution
The WOW design would be a singular, light weight, professional looking tip and transport device to move the cabinet through doors and under other barriers, has a suspension system that can compensate for irregularities in the floor or sidewalk, that can be safely operated by two persons, can stop at any angle, uses industrial known and simply replaceable parts and can broken down and reassembled with relative ease.
Risk Reduction Strategy
We will create a scaled model of one of our designs to test the tipping movement of a scaled model of the cabinet. The scaled cabinet will have the weight distributed similar to the 65/35% distribution in the actual cabinet. We plan to address the high risk associated with the tipping of the cabinet. In one design, there is a possibility of the center of mass falling over the pivot point of the tipping device. The movement in our designs, accompanied with the massive weight of the object, requires a great deal of risk reduction analysis as an unexpected slip or device failure could result in a serious injury. We also plan on performing basic force analysis to determine the maximum force as the center of mass bypasses the pivot point (bottom rear corner) of the cabinet when it is being tipped over.
