Climbing Gear Component Descriptions:
Components:
Climbing Rope – Used in simulation of falling climber with first trial run involving a test dummy and second trial run involving a human. After each test, rope will be analyzed to see effects of strain and eventually make a conclusion on the possibility to predict rope wear due to data about previous fall.
Climbing Harness - Used in simulation of falling climber with first trial run involving a test dummy and second trial run involving a person. Possible location where sensor package will be mounted.
Quickdraw set - Used in simulation of falling climber involving a person. The quickdraw set is more of a safety measure for when a person is falling. The quickdraw set allows the person to clip into safety hooks for every 8 feet while climbing up. When the climber falls, they will only fall until the last safety clip in and not the entire length of the rope.
Personal Anchor System – Safety system for climber to protect against hard falls.
Carabiner – Connect the harness to rope.
Contact Sling – Used in simulation of falling climber involving a person. Sling can be used as anchors to reduce rope drag.
