Introduction to VCL#58 (video): 7 min 30 s
Abstract
What causes the time dependence of viscosity (and of G', G") when the strain reaches a critical strain? Is it disentanglement? Is it the same mechanism at low w and at higher w? This lecture explains how to differentiate shear-thinning and strain softening and explain their fundamental features using the Dual-Phase model of polymer deformation.
This lecture contains 5 parts (links to the subpages at the bottom of the page):
Part 1: Description of the Experiments: Main Results
Part 2: Data Analysis
Part 3: Discussion: Dual-Phase interpretation of low w deformation mechanism. Strain Softening Type 1.
Part 4: Discussion: Dual-Phase interpretation of high w deformation mechanism. Strain Softening Type 2.
Part 5 Summary and Conclusions
