Abstract
In this early stage presentation (2009) of the stress induced melt instability (2009) observed with the use of a laboratory rheometer, the wording "disentanglement" was used to describe the time dependence of the rheological parameters. This was simple and convenient. Yet many aspects of the strain triggered non-linearity led to question the concept of "entanglement" itself, the corner stone of polymer physics.
