Extended Response Writing
Extended Response Writing
Students will be asked to answer extended response questions throughout the year in language arts, as well as other subjects. Power Writing can be used for this just like it is for writing paragraphs and essays. To answer an extended response question with Power Writing you would do the following:
1 Restate and answer the question.
2 Use text evidence or examples that support your answer.
2 Another piece of evidence or examples to support your answer.
1 Explain how the evidence supports your answer and wrap it up.
Here is an example of how to answer a typical extended response question:
What is erosion?
1Erosion is the process of soil moving from one location to another through natural causes. 2One example of erosion is when water from a rainstorm washes away some of the topsoil from a field. 2Another example of this is wind blows dust and soil when it is windy. 1Both of these are examples of erosion because soil is being moved from one location to another by natural causes.
