Question: Why do we make videos?
Answer: To engage, educate and inspire.
Step 1: Ask yourself these questions before you begin.
What is your message?
What information/material/ideas do you want to share?
Who is your audience?
What experience do you want your audience to have?
How will I know my video has been successful?
Step 2: Create a content outline (creative brief)
Your video shoulad have clear:
Goals
Content
Takeaway (message, idea)
Step 3: Brainstorm plot ideas
Think about:
which situations/settings will occur in your video (to make your main points clear)
characters, locations, and props
what will happens to your characters over the course of the video
Remember strong stories have:
Protagonist – the “change agent”
Antagonist – the “resistor of change”
Point-of-View character or “witness” – the person changed by the events in the story

Templates (link)
A GoAnimate template is a scene with content already added:
backdrop
characters
props
text
Use a template to create a scene quickly or to spark ideas for your video.
GoAnimate video maker also has text, locations, logos.
Step 4: Write your script and develop your storyboard
Your video script should sound personal.
Read it out loud to make sure it sounds and looks like a conversation.
Be detailed in what should happen in the video, but keep the dialogue brief.
What is a storyboard?
A storyboard is graphic representation of how your video will unfold, shot by shot. Taking a few minutes to storyboard will save you tons of time later.
Sketch out the storyboard with stick figures or type the script into a document and add screenshots from GoAnimate.
Bring it all together and create your content in GoAnimate.
Step 5: Add music and sound effects
Sound provides a richer viewing experience, whether it’s the sound associated with a particular action, like opening a can of soda, or a piece of music to set the mood for a scene.
You don’t want sound to distract from information or dialogue but a good piece of music can fit the mood of your story & your target audience.
Step 6: Add voice-over (VO) ADVANCED
Add VO and narration, you have two options: to hire a VO artist or do it yourself
To record yourself use a mic and recording into a free audio program like Audacity so you can adjust levels and remove pauses.
