Lesson Content
Music lessons for each grade level are developed around the Three Artistic Processes: Creating, Performing, and Responding. Students in each grade level, from preschool through grade three, will experience these three artistic processes, as related to music, in various age-appropriate ways and through the use of instruments, singing, and movement. Students will develop basic music literacy skills, compose and improvise their own music, respond to musical performances, and expand their repertoire and knowledge of folk songs and rhymes. They will also explore history as related to music and the other arts. In third grade, in addition to basic rhythmic and melodic instruments, students also learn to play the recorder.
