Preschool Curriculum and Assessment Overview
The preschool curriculum integrates Second Step, Foundations, and TS Gold to support holistic child development, emphasizing social-emotional, cognitive, language, and physical growth.
Second Step: Teaches empathy, emotion regulation, and problem-solving through engaging SEL lessons.
Foundations: Builds early literacy, numeracy, and inquiry skills through hands-on, standards-aligned activities.
TS Gold Assessment: Tracks progress via observational data, work samples, and developmental milestones to personalize learning.
Observations: Capture learning during daily activities.
Portfolios: Showcase progress with samples and notes.
Family Involvement: Regular updates keep parents engaged.
This approach ensures children develop the skills and confidence needed for kindergarten and lifelong learning.
At our preschool, we use the Pyramid Model to help children develop important social and emotional skills. This approach helps every child feel safe, confident, and connected.
The Pyramid Model has three key levels:
Building a Strong Foundation: We focus on creating nurturing relationships and a safe, engaging environment where all children feel valued and ready to learn.
Teaching Social-Emotional Skills: We teach skills like managing emotions, making friends, and solving problems.
Providing Individualized Support: For children with specific challenges, we collaborate with families to create personalized plans that help them succeed.
This model ensures all children receive the support they need to thrive in preschool and beyond!
The Pyramid Model is a conceptual framework of evidence-based practices for promoting young children’s healthy social and emotional development.
