This site will provide you with important information about the test that your child will take, the testing process, and what will happen after testing.
Testing of students in district
Current K, 2nd, and 6th graders: All students in Kindergarten, 2nd Grade, and 6th Grade are in the process of being tested in the current fall districtwide Universal Screening process. Students in Kindergarten and 6th grade will be tested with the NNAT; 2nd grade students will be tested with the Naglieri General Ability Tests (NGAT) this year as part of a screening pilot.
Current ECE students: All ECE students will receive the NNAT3 as long as they are 4 years of age. All other tests are not normed for this age range.
Current 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, High School Level: All students will receive the full battery of the CogAT (same protocol for in-person or virtual-only).
In-District schools may opt students to take the Naglieri General Ability Tests (NGAT); please contact the GT teacher at your school if you have questions about which assessment your child will receive.
Contact your school's GT teacher for more information on which test, exact testing dates at your child's school, and what to expect from the testing environment. Letters should be sent home up to a week before the testing occurs.

Testing of students from a private, home, or out-of-district school: The DPS Gifted and Talented office will be scheduling testing at the Emily Griffith Campus (1860 Lincoln-- across from the Brown Palace Hotel). You will be able to select a time on a Sign Up Genius that will be sent via email at a later date.
ECE, Kinder, 2nd, and 6th grade students will receive the NNAT3
1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th-12th grade will receive the CogAT
NGAT will not be offered to out-of-district students at this time.
