Decisions on magnet program eligibility are made by a committee from the Gifted and Talented Department and are based on the multiple criteria in a body of evidence that meet state requirements for Gifted and Talented identification. In order for a student to be considered magnet eligible, one criteria that must be met as part of the student’s body of evidence, is a cognitive score in the 95%ile-99%ile in the Age Percentile Ranking (APR).
You will receive the results of your student’s test and the decision regarding magnet eligibility via email on May 5th to the email on the nomination form.
If your child qualifies as magnet eligible for the 2025-2026 school year, you will need to participate in the School Choice process. You will need to file an application with School Choice to be considered for a magnet site; students WILL NOT be automatically enrolled.
Enrollment in the Magnet Program is a process handled by Choice and Enrollment Services, and it is based on the spaces available at each magnet site. Please contact Choice and Enrollment with questions regarding the choice process, placement, and individual school priorities. The nomination form will open in January.
