Please click on the document for more information about the Seal of Biliteracy. The requirements are as follows:
1. Students must complete all requirements for graduation.
2. Students must demonstrate proficiency in English through one of the following methods:
a) Pass the PARCC English language arts test (administered in grade eleven) at the strong or distinguished level.
b) Pass the ACT English test with a score of 18 and the ACT Reading test with a score of 17.
c) Pass the AP English Language test or the AP Literature test with a score of 3 or higher.
d) Pass the IB English Language and Literature test with a score of 4 or higher.
e) Pass the Accuplacer Basic Skills Assessment with a placement in the 100 Level.
3. Students must demonstrate proficiency in one or more languages other than English through one of the following methods:
a) Pass a World Language Advanced Placement (AP) exam with a score of 3 or higher.
b) Pass an International Baccalaureate examination with a score of 4 or higher.
c) Successfully complete high school courses of study in a world language with an overall grade point average of 3.0 or above in those courses of study and pass the DPS Level 3-4 Test with a proficiency range at the intermediate-mid level.
d) If no AP examination or off-the-shelf language test exists, then the student may compile a portfolio of work that will be evaluated by a district representative.
