A Bit About Me

I have been teaching Spanish at Skinner since 2011, and I love the school, students, and staff! During my time at Skinner, I have taught Spanish for Heritage Speakers, Spanish Language Arts, and Spanish as a 2nd Language. Prior to teaching at Skinner, I taught Beginning Spanish at Colorado State University while earning my Master’s degree in Spanish Languages, Literatures, and Cultures.

I am passionate about teaching and utilize Comprehensible Input (CI) strategies. These strategies are based on research about language acquisition and are best practices for teaching language. I have shared my knowledge about the benefits of CI while presenting at CCFLT and SWCOLT Conferences.

With my first teacher, my mom, who taught elementary school for over 30 years!!!

I absolutely love language, traveling, and experiencing other cultures! I have been fortunate enough to travel throughout the world and keep a running list of locations including Portugal, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Ecuador (2010 - volunteered with UBECI, England, France, Morocco, Spain (2003-studied abroad, 2019 traveled with 16 Skinner students), Germany, China, Thailand, Peru (2017 - traveled with 17 Skinner students), Puerto Rico (2016- work-study program as a volunteer at the San Juan National Historic Site, 2022 with students), and Canada.

When I am not teaching, I am spending time with my husband and son, Bishop.
