The research activity is mainly focused on methodological, theoretical and practical aspects of artificial intelligence, with applications related to cognitive mobile robots and computer vision systems operating in real environments.
More specifically, the research focuses on knowledge representation and reasoning, perception, learning, multi-robot collaboration, and human-robot interaction. Special attention is given to real applications and development of physical systems acting in real environments. The developed methods and algorithms have been thus applied in many different kinds of domains, ranging from robotic soccer to domestic and service robots, from rescue robots to intelligent surveillance systems.
