Games with this mechanic allow players to obtain cards from a limited set of options to either gain immediate benefit, or to complete a collection to be used at a later time. In King of Tokyo, there is a market of three cards players can purchase from. These are either "keep" cards that players hold on to to gain lasting benefits or "discard" card that are used immediately for a quick bonus. To explain another method of card drafting, in Sushi Go players each start with a hand of cards. They then each select one card from this hand to keep, and pass the rest on to the player to their left. This process continues until all the cards have been selected, and the players have selected a set of cards that hopefully earn them the most points.
