PART 1:

General Introduction

Why take driver's ed?

*Who are the drive instructors? When do they like to do their drives?

DRIVE INSTRUCTOR DRIVING PREFERENCE

Mr. Green-Hite (DDHS Teacher) Mostly Weekends

Ms. Bennett (DDHS Instructional Assistant) Mostly Weekdays

Mr. Foteff (DDSD Bus Driver) Mostly Weekends

Mr. Gardner (DDHS Teacher) Mostly Weekdays

*ODOT/DDHS Requirements--

33 hours Classroom

12 hours behind the wheel (6 driving, 6 observing)

5 hour drive log (minimum)

*Find a Partner with a similar driving schedule as yours. (Activities, work, etc)

*Fill out Drive Cards

*Student/Parent Orientation on Wednesday from 7 - 8 PM in room 168

(IN ROOM 301) Social Studies Building is locked after school.

Classroom Expectations/Rules--You may be dropped from the class if you don't follow the rules.

A) Attendance--no more than 6 hours can be made up. All hours must be made up. This includes all school related activities.

Attendance--ODOT Requirement, only 6 hours scheduled to make up, more than that will result in removal from the class and a loss of your registration fee.

B) Participation--Discussion, Assignments in class, behind the wheel, and homework

No phones, talking out of turn, and keep your head up.

C) Snacks and Drinks are okay--During Break (Sun Schools Dinner Program around 4:05) *Break will be 15 minutes--come back on time

You have to clean up after yourselves.

D) Come prepared and on time PM CLASS--2:50-6:00 AM CLASS--6:20-7:20

Behind the Wheel Expectations/Rules

*Communicate with your drive instructor and your partner drive scheduling information

*Pay attention as an observer. Complete "Behind the Wheel Assignments" In your Driver Ed Booklet for each drive and parent section when you drive at home.
