Julia Dale is the Director of Vocal Music at Rock Canyon High School, where she conducts the Tenor/Bass Choir, Treble Choir, Echos, Formations, and Jag Choirs, teaches A.P. Music Theory, and vocal directs the school musical each year. She is also the advisor for the Rock Canyon chapter of the Tri-M Music Honors Society. In addition to her teaching load, Ms. Dale is the department chair and serves as Colorado ACDA’s President-Elect. Under Ms. Dale's direction, RCHS choirs have received the highest ratings at CHSAA competitions and been invited to perform at CMEA three times. Her students are frequently accepted to the Colorado All-State Choirs.
Prior to joining the Rock Canyon faculty in 2009, Ms. Dale was the Director of Choirs at Palmyra-Macedon High School from 2004-2007. She then studied at Westminster Choir College where she served as the graduate assistant conductor to the Westminster Chapel and Symphonic Choirs, which performed frequently with the New York Philharmonic and other world renowned orchestras. Additionally, she was a member of the Westminster Choir, Westminster Kantorei, and Westminster Symphonic Choir where she performed under esteemed conductors such as Kurt Masur, Ton Koopman, Pierre Boulez, Neemi Jarvi, and David Robertson.
Ms. Dale is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, where she received a B.M. in Music Education with a vocal emphasis. She earned an M.M. in choral conducting from Westminster Choir College of Rider University. Ms. Dale has been an Apple Award nominee every year since she arrived at Rock Canyon and was honored to be Rock Canyon's Apple Award recipient in 2011. She has previously served as the Colorado All State Jazz Choir Co-Chair, Treble Choir R&R Chair for Colorado ACDA, and on the CHSAA Music Advisory Committee. Ms. Dale resides in Highlands Ranch with her handsome husband, Ben, and amazing children, Charlie and Ellie. When not teaching, Ms. Dale can be found cheering on her kids at their various sports, in a yoga studio, baking or on an elliptical machine.
