Who is Mrs. Dale?

Julia Dale is the Director of Vocal Music at Rock Canyon High School, where she conducts the Tenor/Bass Chorus, Treble Choir,  Echos Choir and the Jag Choir,  teaches A.P. Music Theory and vocal directs the school musical each year. She is also the advisor for the Rock Canyon chapter of the Tri-M Music Honors Society.  In addition to her teaching load, Ms. Dale is the department chair and serves as Colorado ACDA Women's Choir R&S Chair.

Prior to joining the Rock Canyon faculty in 2009, Ms. Dale studied at the distinguished Westminster Choir College where she served as the graduate assistant conductor to the Westminster Chapel Choir and the Westminster Symphonic Choir, which performed frequently with the New York Philharmonic and other world renowned orchestras. Additionally, she was a member of the Westminster Choir, Westminster Kantorei, and Westminster Symphonic Choir where she performed under esteemed conductors such as Kurt Masur, Ton Koopman, Pierre Boulez, Neemi Jarvi, and David Robertson.

Ms. Dale was the Director of Choirs at Palmyra-Macedon High School from 2004-2007 where her choirs frequently received Gold with Distinction ratings at festivals. Her choirs have toured Italy, New York City, Hawaii, Missouri, Colorado and were invited to perform with the prestigious Eastman School of Music Chorale under the direction of Dr. William Weinert.

Under Ms. Dale's direction, RCHS choirs have received the highest ratings at CHSAA competitions.  Recent choral projects have included the world premier of Magnificat by composer Nathan Jones and many masterworks with orchestra, including Vivaldi's Gloria, Rheinberger's Missa in G and the Faure Requiem. Her students are frequently accepted to the Colorado All-State Choirs (both Classical and Jazz).  

Ms. Dale is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, where she received a B.M. in Music Education with a vocal emphasis. She earned an M.M. in choral conducting from Westminster Choir College of Rider University.  Ms. Dale has been an Apple Award nominee every year since she arrived at Rock Canyon and was honored to be Rock Canyon's Apple Award recipient in 2011.  She has served as the Colorado All State Jazz Choir Co-Chair and on the CHSAA Music Advisory Committee in the past.  Ms. Dale resides in Highlands Ranch with her husband and wonderful children, Charlie and Ellie.  When not teaching, Ms. Dale can be found hiking, biking, and cheering for the Red Sox.
