Dear Friends:

Congratulations on being part of this great organization filled with amazing people working together to create something unique and exciting.  Marching Band is one of the biggest co-ed activities and the only co-ed activity that spends the majority of its time working outside and performing outside.

We as a staff are very excited about this year’s show and the band that will be performing the show.  Every person brings his or her unique skill set to the ensemble and once again we will work hard to ensure that we develop into one of the best ensembles our district has seen.  Together we will reach new heights of excellence and achievement.

Here are the camp dates for August:

MARCHING REHEARSALS DATES/TIMES:

August 2-6 *8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m  Rehearsal for all members.

*11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m lunch in the cafeteria.  Bring your lunch.

*12:15 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Rehearsal for all members

Upperclassmen please note that we will be together for the entire camp.

Rehearsal Needs:

Safety during band camp is our top priority.  Therefore, it is essential that students bring sunscreen, cool clothing, and insect repellant.  Water will be provided, but bring your own water bottle and plan to fill it up many times.  Parents are also asked to be on hand to assist with hydration and heat situations.

You will also need the following items for camp.

1.  Your instrument in working order

2.  Marching band music in a 3 ring binder with sheet protectors.  Don’t worry if you don’t have the marching band music, we will get it to you.

3.  A Pencil!!!

4.  A baseball cap.  This will help us to identify head motion and angles.

5.  The willingness to learn and work together to achieve excellence as a band!

Communication

We will be using  the platform called “Band”. Here is a link to get to this platform:

Here is some information from FOFA

Dear Parents:

Welcome to Marching Band 2021

We need parents to volunteer to help with Band Camp (fitting uniforms during the week and helping with water and snacks), Friday night games, and competitions.

Band t-shirts:

Band t-shirts will be ordered and cost $9-$25 for band members.  Students must have them since they will be worn for the Dallas Center Fall Festival Parade and the First game.  Other family members may also order them as needed.  If there is a financial hardship in regard to the t-shirt for your student, please communicate with Mr. Crilly.

Students will need khaki shorts or capris for the Dallas Center Fall Festival Parade.  Please be sure all shorts are an appropriate length.

Uniforms:

Each student will have a uniform fitted for them during band camp.

EVERY TIME your student wears their uniform (games and competitions)--

**They will need:  a t-shirt for under their uniform (NO tank tops – MUST have short sleeves), athletic shorts or leggings (NO cargo shorts), long black athletic socks, and black shoes.

**They will NOT wear jewelry (earrings, necklaces, bracelets, watches, etc.) – permanent ear jewelry will be covered.)

**Long hair will be up – bring hair ties, hair clips, hairnets, bobby pins, etc.  (Band Moms will help!)

**They will NOT wear nail polish. (Band Moms will have remover as necessary.)

**No eating or drinking (except water) in uniform.

Friday Night Games:

The band will march at Friday night home games.  Students will report to the band room at 5:30 to prepare for pregame.  During the first half the band will sit together in the stands. They will march at half-time.  Following half-time, the students will return to the band room to take care of their instrument and uniform.  They are free to go once these responsibilities are done.

9th grade football players /cross country/cheerleaders – be sure to have FOOD to eat between your sports and marching band!  Varsity football will make arrangements for their instruments and will march in football uniform.

Competitions:

The band will have several Saturday competitions.  Call time will be announced to the students. Students must ride the bus to/from competitions unless other arrangements are made with the band director.

Please be aware that some of these days are long days and the students will need money for food or pack meals.  Students may also want to bring a blanket, jacket, and extra clothing. Competitions do have an entry fee for all spectators.

We look forward to a WONDERFUL Marching Band Season and a great school year with your students!
