We're back!

Hello music makers! Welcome to Mrs. Bell's 4PK Music Class :)

October has brought a lot of fun in the music room. Students explored tunes and chants about ghosts, pumpkins, bats, and much more. Our focus during these activities was to practice active learning and use a singing voice instead of a speaking voice when necessary. Below is an example of a tune in which we were encouraged to use a singing voice.

 Little Ghosty

4PK music students explored this song through movement and singing. This tune is in Harmonic Minor, which is out of the norm for the typical American listener.  As students experienced this song the first time, we used scarves to flow with our ghosty. That means that we were moving them in a smooth fashion in a variety of spaces; high, middle, low.

The second time our students experienced this song, we used foam ghosts and balanced them on various body parts. This made us focus on moving one part of our body while maintaining balance and enhancing our core strength. After each repetition of the song, students played with a singing sound while echoing a series of tonal patterns as if the ghosts were singing to each other. This was great fun for our little learners.
