Meet Mrs. Bell

Welcome and thank you for stopping by and getting to know a bit more about me.

I have been teaching at Dansville Primary School since 2010 as the Primary General Music Teacher. I currently hold a Bachelors in Music Education degree from Nazareth College of Rochester, a Masters of Education degree from the University at Buffalo, and an Elementary General Music Level 1 Certification from the Gordon Institute of Music Learning with Dr. Edwin E. Gordon. Recently I was elected President-Elect for the New York Chapter for the Gordon Institute of Music Learning. Over the next eight years, I will move from this role into a full presidency and then into a past-presidential slot. This position allows me to facilitate and guide music teachers all over New York State as they learn how to become better music teachers using Music Learning Theory. I educate current and incoming teachers at Fredonia University, at the NYSSMA conference in Rochester, and other various locations around the state.

Music at the primary level is very different from when I was in school. I remember walking into class, sitting in a chair, and singing songs from a book. My classroom houses no chairs, no desks, and no textbooks. Students in my music class experience a variety of activities upon walking in the door such as singing, chanting, performing on instruments, moving creatively, and so much more.
