Soaring Eagles

Who they are

Soaring Eagles is an 8th grade peer leadership program

where students create positive change in their school environment, build and refine leadership skills, and promote school connection among students and staff. Our Eagles are selected based on academic and personal excellence and demonstrate integrity, empathy, compassion, and responsibility in and outside the classroom. These students take initiative to help and support their classmates, consistently make positive behavioral decisions, and demonstrate strong communication and advocacy skills.

What they do

Each year, our Soaring Eagles act as student ambassadors and are available to provide direction at a variety of school functions during the year, including:

Soaring Eagles also act a peer mentors and role models for 6th graders and new students. Each 6th grade homeroom is assigned 2-3 Soaring Eagles who visit periodically throughout the school year. These enthusiastic peer leaders help younger students transition and adjust to the middle school environment and model respect, responsibility, and empathy (SOARS expectations). They lead new student groups at the beginning of the year, assist with school assemblies, and give building tours to visitors. Soaring Eagles create a welcoming and positive atmosphere at Emerson!
