Science

Science is a chance for students to learn through discovery and experimenting. Sometimes we even get a little messy! As students work through the scientific process, they dabble in the scientific disciplines of biology, geology, physics, and chemistry. Our goal is to open a whole new world of learning through observation and hands-on activities so that all students learn the core scientific principles.

  • Crosscutting Concepts:

    • Help students explore connections across the four domains of science, including Physical Science, Life Science, Earth and Space Science, and Engineering Design.

  • Science and Engineering Practices:

    • Describe what scientists do to investigate the natural world and what engineers do to design and build systems.

  • Disciplinary Core Ideas:

    • Key ideas in science that have broad importance within or across multiple science or engineering disciplines.

The units include:

  • Energy

  • Waves and Information

  • Structure, Function, and Information Processing

  • Earth Systems

Each unit is about 9 weeks long. A test is given at the end which includes vocabulary and content questions. Safety, technology, and engineering are emphasized throughout.
